How We Rank

“We can do better.  It’s not about just moving up in rankings, it’s about moving forward together and Greensboro taking its place among the leaders in the state and region.  As Mayor I’ll demonstrate a vision beyond today’s headlines that works collectively to build something that will last, something we can all be proud of.  It’s time for a change, Greensboro.”

Dear Friend:

US News recently ranked Greensboro sixth among North Carolina cities (over 40 spots behind Hickory) on its Best Places to Live list.

I believe Greensboro should rank higher and be the envy of all our peers.  If elected Mayor I will work with the City Council, City employees, businesses and community members to build on our considerable strengths: a talented workforce; great transportation infrastructure; an impressive array of hospitals, colleges and universities; and a thriving and growing arts community.  But it won’t be easy.

We have to address what is holding us back.  US News ranked Greensboro the 8th most dangerous city in the country.  Our median income and unemployment levels were ranked behind our peers.

Taking on these issues will require a new vision and a different kind of mayoral leadership.  The kind of leadership I’ve shown in taking the lead on police hiring and pay, working to eliminate red tape and blight, and attracting and retaining good jobs.

We can do better.  It’s not about just moving up in rankings, it’s about moving forward together and Greensboro taking its place among the leaders in the state and region.  As Mayor I’ll demonstrate a vision beyond today’s headlines that works collaboratively to build something that will last, something we can all be proud of.

It’s time for a change, Greensboro.

Sincerely,
