A Vote For Our Future (Part 1)

This is a campaign for Greensboro’s future. I have been upfront about my priorities, the actions I have taken, and what I will do to build on all that makes Greensboro such a wonderful place to live.  I hope to earn your vote”

04/06/22 Dear Friend: There is no better way to get to know people’s needs and expectations than meeting them one on one.  It keeps the focus of this campaign where it should be.  On you.  My vision and proposals for Greensboro’s future reflect what you have told me.  About your lives, your hopes for the years to come, your concerns about our direction.  Over the last year, in these emails, I have outlined specific plans in four key areas. A Safer City – Safe streets save lives and families, while also building the confidence companies need to come inside the city limits and grow our tax base. They make Greensboro livable.  That is why I will:
  • Provide the training, funding, and compensation needed to ensure we have a police department that is prepared for the challenges they face.
  • Advocate for a best practices approach that includes new uses of technology to identify criminal activity.
  • Use our resources, along with state and federal funding to address root causes of crime, for summer jobs, job training, and affordable housing.
  • Advocate for common sense reforms.  We will not reduce crime if we do not build confidence and trust between officers and the people they serve.
  • Real Investment in Tomorrow – I have proposed investments in Greensboro’s infrastructure while being good stewards of the tax dollars and resources entrusted to the city.  We must make meaningful progress in areas like innovation, transportation, and preparing for environmental change.  I will propose and support an innovation corridor from NC A&T to the Nussbaum Center for Entrepeneurship, invest in inter-City transportation, while also partnering with regional players to provide service to where new jobs are being created.  I will support making infrastructure investments in the areas most impacted by extreme weather conditions. Growing Our Economy – My plan includes making sure when progress comes, it lifts us all.  We will do this with investments in transportation, improving livibility for seniors, strengthening the private sector, attracting investment to the Downtown Greenway and NC A&T corridor, reducing blight, and promoting tourism.  It means partnerships with universities and a smart, results oriented government. Effective Leadership – Lastly, I have told you how I would provide effective leadership.  A city government can add value or inhibit growth.  It can act on calls for transparency and focus.  I will emphasize city services focusing on measurable results that tie into consensus, long-range goals. This is a campaign for Greensboro’s future. I have been upfront about my priorities, the actions I have taken, and what I will do to build on all that makes Greensboro such a wonderful place to live.  I hope to earn your vote.  For Our Future,
