My Support For The County School Bonds

“Make no mistake about it, the upcoming county school bond is needed. For too long the building and infrastructure needs of schools were put off for another day and the deteriorating condition of our school facilities bears witness to that neglect.”

Dear Friend:

You will be hearing a lot about education bonds which will be on the May 17th ballot.  Although public schools are a county function, they have an impact on Greensboro’s city government.

Good schools are an essential selling point as cities compete for the type of business growth which expands our tax base.  In turn, cities like ours must make responsible decisions on municipal taxes so there is room for the county to successfully put forward much needed bonds related to education.

Make no mistake about it, the upcoming county school bond is needed.  For too long the building and infrastructure needs of schools were put off for another day and the deteriorating condition of our school facilities bears witness to that neglect.  By delaying construction for years, we now must replace buildings at higher prices.

I support the county school bond, both as an elected official and the father of two young children at Jones Elementary School.  I’ve seen first-hand the critical need for new buildings throughout our system.  As mayor, I will use the visibility of the mayor’s office to be a strong advocate for our schools.  It is the right thing to do for our children and for the growth of Greensboro.

For Our Future,

P.S. – primary voting day is May 17th, early voting starts April 28th, and absentee voting starts March 28th.
